All containers (bags, packages) of silica have supplier or workplace labels affixed to them, as appropriate. 2. Safety data sheets (SDSs) are obtained, and copies of SDSs made accessible to workers and provided to the joint health and safety committee or health and safety representative. The SDS must contain the section number and heading that must be presented in the specified order, as follows – Product identification – Hazard identification/hazard classification – Composition/Information on ingredients – First-aid measures – Fire-fighting measures – Accidental release measures – Handling and storage – Exposure controls/Personal protection – Physical and chemical properties – Stability and reactivity – Toxicological information – Ecological information*** – Disposal considerations*** – Transport information*** – Regulatory information*** – Other information such as date of the latest revision of the SDS *** Sections 12 to 15 require the headings to be present, but under Canadian regulations, the supplier has the option to not provide information in these sections.
