Solution BILL 27
THE RIGHT TO DISCONNECT
IT'S YOUR TURN
Create your own disconnect policy:
Effective June 2, 2022 Employers in Ontario with
25+ employees must develop a written policy giving
workers the right to disconnect at the end of their workday.
Define what work time means
Set clear expectations about
response time for emails
Consider time zones (if that
applies to your company)
Define remote work and
in-person expectations
Tips to disconnect
PROBLEM
ALWAYS "ON" CULTURE
Worktime overlaps personal time
IN
At the end of your working
hours, turn off your work
communication devices or set
them to silent, as appropriate.
If possible, have separate
devices for work activities,
so you would be unable to
access work e-mails on your
personal devices.
During your personal time,
turn off your computer and
walk away.
Take breaks throughout the
work day and use that time
to focus on something other
than work.
Dedicate a separate space in
your home that is reserved
for work, if possible.
