Working with WSPS
Am I required to work with WSPS?
There is an offer of support to work with WSPS' 10 ergonomists located across Ontario and our
health and safety specialized consultants in warehousing who have expertise in warehouse and
warehouse type operations. This is in addition to the health and safety consultants and account
managers who can help. Employers are not required to engage with WSPS and can rely on
support from other resources that are available.
Is there a cost for WSPS consulting services?
Advice and guidance are always free from WSPS as they are partially funded by employer's WSIB
premiums. If you transition from free to fee-for-service support, your WSPS consultant would
bring that to your attention. You will never receive a surprise bill from WSPS.
What type of support can I expect from WSPS?
We know ergonomics and MSD prevention can be somewhat of an onerous topic, but it doesn't
have to be. In fact, many of you are preventing MSD hazards without even knowing it. WSPS has
created several free resources and information (see links below) to assist with the initiative. These
resources help you recognize and identify areas in which you are going a great job and preventing
MSDs and areas where you might need a bit more help.
To make things more manageable, WSPS has created several mind maps that breakdown MSD
and ergonomics requirements in the warehouse setting. Connect with your local ergonomist or
account manager to discuss.
WSPS has plans to conduct virtual Safety Connections focused on the three areas of the initiative,
presentations during our regional Partners in Prevention Conferences and other events to support

WSPS has partnered with our friends at the Centre of Research Expertise for The Prevention
of Musculoskeletal Disorders (CRE-MSD) to bridge the gap between research and practice.
Resource development, webinar collaboration and bringing the MSD prevention guideline to
practice are priorities during and after this initiative for all businesses.
