Install mirrors at intersections, blind corners, and
doorways where material handling equipment and
pedestrians come together.
Install barriers such as guardrails and bollards
where space permits.
Add floor markings to separate pedestrians from
mobile equipment traffic.
Ensure load is secured when on forks to prevent
movement.

Enforce safe operator practices such as:
Sound horn at blind corners and intersections to
warn pedestrians.
Drive slowly around pedestrians and prepare to stop
at intersections.
Make eye contact with pedestrian and provide right
of way. Communicate such as by hand gesture.
Drive with an unobstructed view and look in the
direction of travel.
