The key to opera�ng powered hedge shears safely is to clear obstruc�ons out of the way prior to star�ng up the engine, maintain your balance and stay focused on what you are doing. Prevention Points These tools can cause small objects to fly up into your face. Take the necessary precautions to do the job safely and consider these prevention tips: Review the General Health & Safety Best Practices section on page 7 before performing any task. Firmly grip handles with both hands when cutting and never overreach. Avoid contact with electrical sources, overhead lines. Smooth motions are preferred over jerky movements. Avoid using the equipment while standing on a ladder. Operators should never operate the equipment above shoulder level; doing so causes the operator to have less control of their equipment. Ensure to change position regularly. Shut off the engine prior to removing branches stuck in the teeth of the equipment. Store equipment properly when not in use. ! ?
