Proper housekeeping can increase work efficiency and reduce the risk of injuries on the job site. Prevention Points Incidents are less likely to occur if we maintain a neat, clean, tidy and organized workplace and customers' worksites. Review the General Health & Safety Best Practices section on page 7 before performing any task. Present yourself in a safe and professional manner at all times. Organize your worksite by storing all tools and equipment safely and properly. Place all debris and waste in the appropriate waste collection. Get in the habit of laying rakes with forks down, shovels blade down, pruners in holsters and other tools in one area on the job site. Equipment, vehicles and tools must be kept clean and maintained. Reduce, re-use and recycle wherever possible. Metal strapping on palletized materials should be neatly trimmed to avoid a tripping hazard. Walkways should always be kept as neat, dry and slip resistant as possible. Refer to the company's policy and procedures for further details, key responsibilities and required actions. Housekeeping requirements can be found in R.R.O. 1990, Reg. 851 s.11 under the OHSA. ! ? ACTION! Do a walk about with your crew to show them a properly organized and tidy work site operation.
