(Answer: 85 decibels (dBA) but leaf blowers operate at a much higher noise level which require hearing protecon at all mes) Leaf blowers present a thrown object hazard which can hit the operator and innocent bystanders. Prevention Points Always plan your work before you use a leaf blower. Review the General Health & Safety Best Practices section on page 7 before performing any task. Always start and run in an upright position and operate the unit at the lowest possible throttle to do the required job. (never operate without tubing) Stay clear of the hot muffler; it can melt synthetic fleece to skin or catch clothing on fire. Safely store after use. Never use from ladders, trees, rooftops or other unstable surfaces. The Noise Regulation under the OHSA (O. Reg. 381/15) stipulates that workers need to use hearing protection devices to protect them from exposure to sound levels greater than 85 dBA. ! ?
