Hazardous materials are described as biological or chemical agents that could cause or inflict injury or death, if exposed for a period of �me and not properly handled. Prevention Points By law, all workers have the "Right to Know" about any hazardous materials in the workplace. WHMIS is a Canada–wide system designed to give workers information about hazardous materials used in their workplace. Under WHMIS information on hazardous materials are provided to workers through labels, safety data sheets (SDS) and training to work safely with chemicals and learn how to handle spills. All workers must be trained and review the program annually or when new hazardous materials/chemicals are introduced into the workplace. Review the General Health & Safety Best Practices section on page 7 before performing any task. Train all staff annually. ! ? *
