Read and follow the labels direction. Be familiar with the chemical's SDS and be aware of their location and how to read them. Ensure to follow proper PPE removal and hand washing techniques after chemical use. Ensure portable eye wash bottles are available offsite. Controlling Spills Refer to the SDS for spill control and disposal of specific materials Do not leave the spill open for contact with the public/children. Contact your supervisor or the local fire department or authority if in doubt. For more information on WHMIS, refer to the WHMIS Regulation, R.R.O. 1990, Reg. 860 under the OHSA and the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks page on Reporting Pollution and Spills. ACTION! Review a supplier label. Demonstrate how to create a workplace label for a decanted hazardous material. Show staff where SDS resources are located e.g. truck, office, etc.
