Ensure all workers operating a chainsaw avoid wearing loose fitting clothing. Start by holding the saw down on the ground, away from the body, with a sharp pull on the starter. Never drop start the saw. Allow the chainsaw to idle without the saw rotating. Use a rope pulley system to lift a chainsaw, if operating at heights, e.g. trees. Kickback can occur if the end of the chainsaw nose strikes an object. Keep a clear area in front of the chainsaw while cutting.
