As he backed the loader toward the wall, the le rear re went over the edge and the loader rolled over the drop-off to the ground below. The operator was not wearing his seat belt and was killed. Improper use of skid steers can put workers at risk of being crushed by moving parts, rollover and run over incidents resulng in tragic injuries and even death. Prevention Points Skid steers are useful pieces of equipment designed to perform heavy duty tasks. However, your full concentration is needed when operating this piece of equipment to reduce the risk of a dangerous and potentially fatal incident. Consider these prevention points: Review the General Health & Safety Best Practices section on page 7 before performing any task. Ensure attachments are locked in place prior to use. Ensure that seatbelt is worn during operation. If you hit an obstruction, stop the engine to inspect for damage. Ensure all guards and shields are in place and functioning properly. Keep hands and feet away from all moving parts. ! !
