It can be helpful for getting additional information or answers to your questions about the product. The emergency telephone number can be used as a critical contact in the event of an incident. Contacts are usually available over 24 hours. SECTION 2: HAZARD IDENTIFICATION This section identifies the hazardous properties associated with the hazardous product. Hazards are sources or situations with the potential to cause injury or ill health. 2.1 Classification of the Substance or Mixture The product and its contents are considered hazardous as stipulated by the requirements of the Canadian Hazardous Products Regulations SOR/2015-17. Flammable liquids (Category 2), H225 Acute toxicity, Oral (Category 3), H301 Acute toxicity, Inhalation (Category 3), H331 Acute toxicity, Dermal (Category 3), H311 Specific target organ toxicity – single exposure (Category 1), Eyes, Central nervous system, H370 The manufacturer has indicated that this product is "Hazardous". The information shown identifies the: – Hazard Classes: properties of the product • Flammable liquids – Hazard Category or Type: helps identify how dangerous the property is within the hazard class • Category 2 As a general rule of thumb, the lower the number or letter, the more dangerous that specific property of the product is. Example – More Hazardous: Category 1A > Category 1B > Category 2 > Category 3. 2.2 Label Elements Hazard pictograms: This area will specifiy what information will be included on the WHMIS label for this product. The content here should match the information on the label. The pictograms present can visually alert users to the type of hazards present. In this case, we can tell that the product is "Flammable" (Flame Symbol), "Can Cause Death" (Skull & Crossbones Symbol), and "May Cause Serious Health Effects" (Health Hazard Symbol).
