The following provides an example of how to read and extract information from a WHMIS SDS. XYZ CHEMICAL Methanol Solution Safety Data Sheet CAT123425 Revision Date: January 16, 2024 Version 9.0 SECTION 1: IDENTIFICATION This section provides key information relating to the hazardous product's identity, use requirements, supplier general and emergency contacts. 1.1 Product Identifier Product Form: Mixture (Liquid) Substance Name: Methanol Solution This area can help you match the identity of the hazardous product. Chemicals can often have many different names. It is important to verify this information so that the correct precautions can be taken. Use the information here to compare to the product label and container. Everything should match up. 1.2 Other Means of Identification: CAT123425 1.3 Recommended Use Industrial grade disinfectant Synthesis of chemicals Laboratory use 1.4 Restrictions on Use Not for household or consumer use This area describes the scenarios and situations where the chemical is permitted and not permitted for use. Chemicals must never be used outside of what the manufacturer intends (otherwise adverse harm may occur).
