This training should encompass safe operating procedures, potential hazards, and necessary safety measures. Such training can prevent accidents and promote efficient and safe task execution. Loads are Properly Balanced Maintaining proper load balance during load handling is crucial to avoid any shifting, tipping, or falling. This requires meticulous positioning and securing of the load, along with suitable equipment for its lifting and transportation. Seat Belt Use/Line of Sight Seat belts are an indispensable safety measure in mobile equipment. They anchor the operator in their seat, mitigating the risk of injury during an accident. Seat belts also contribute to maintaining vehicle control by preventing operators from being jostled inside or thrown out of the vehicle. Businesses must mandate workers use seat belts when operating vehicles or mobile equipment. Line of sight pertains to what the operator can see from the driver's seat. Operators need to have an unobstructed view when operating mobile equipment. Several accidents and fatalities in industries like warehouse and distribution have been attributed to impaired operator line of sight. Hence, it's vital to identify and rectify any line of sight issues. This could involve adjusting mirrors and seats or employing cameras and sensors to improve visibility. Safe Loading, Unloading, and Transport of Materials Adhering to safe methods for loading, unloading, and transporting materials can help avoid accidents and injuries. This encompasses using suitable equipment, ensuring loads are securely fastened, and observing correct protocols for lifting and transporting loads. Consider the following: Keep loads as close to the ground as possible to maintain stability and reduce the risk of tipping. Always drive at a safe speed, especially when carrying heavy or awkward loads. This helps maintain control and reduces the risk of accidents. Smooth and gradual movements prevent loads from shifting or falling, reducing the risk of injuries or damage. Ensure all loads are securely fastened before transport to prevent them from moving or falling during transit. WSPS.CA
