With a deep understanding of the physical, environmental and cognitive demands on workers, Melissa helps employers in Southern Ontario incorporate strategies to reduce risks associated with musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). "Workplaces are constantly evolving due to technology and business changes, we cannot forget the human element," she says.

A Registered Kinesiologist (R.Kin) and Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), Melissa has a Bachelor of Science, Honours degree in Kinesiology from the University of Waterloo. As a kinesiologist, Melissa has expertise in biomechanics, human anatomy, human movement and ergonomics.

Melissa has a natural affinity for helping people and decided early in her career that prevention was the key to reducing human suffering. "Working at WSPS is a great fit since its business is preventing injuries." She finds inspiration in her fellow colleagues "who are experts in their respective fields, and always striving to do better and be better."

What motivates her work with customers?

Whenever I deliver a training session or conduct an ergonomic assessment, and someone gets that 'lightbulb' moment when they recognize their own impact on health and safety.
