How it Works

To get started, complete the registration form and a member of our team will connect with you soon. You will be asked to complete a survey so our safety experts can get to know your business’ needs to build a safety program.

Part 1: Foundation - Getting Started with Safety Leadership

  • This part will cover the topic of leadership. You’ll learn how leaders’ actions and decisions shape workplace health and safety and how to clearly show it is an organizational priority.
  • One of our safety experts will onboard you to the program. They will also work with you to build your health and safety knowledge through coaching, workshops, networking opportunities, resources and tools.
  • Owners and senior leaders will be asked to attend four mandatory workshops to learn about health and safety laws, roles and responsibilities, understanding your role as a leader, and to demonstrate that health and safety is a core priority for your business. You’ll also learn how Ontario’s health and safety partners support businesses in building safer, stronger workplaces. These sessions are only for senior leaders or owners. No substitution will be allowed.
  • Our safety consultant will work with you to build a portfolio for part one to submit for your rebates to the WSIB. Your rebates are based on the premiums reported the previous year.
  • Once the portfolio is approved, you will receive your financial rebate and participation badge for your website and social media.
  • Estimated Rebate: $2000 -$3000 (a maximum of 200% of WSIB premiums) and a $1000 registration incentive.

Part 2: Building Safety Responsibilities and Worker Participation

  • This part will cover roles and responsibilities and participation in health and safety in Ontario. With 1:1 help from your safety consultant, you’ll understand the roles and shared responsibility for health and safety. It will focus on understanding the specific duties of employers, supervisors, and workers, while highlighting how active worker involvement, such as raising concerns and sharing ideas, that contributes to a safer workplace for everyone.
  • You’ll be provided free training for two members of your team for Joint Health and Safety Committee Certification Level 1 or Health and Safety Representative training.
  • Our safety consultant will work with you to build a portfolio for part two to submit for your rebates to the WSIB. Your rebates are based on the premiums reported the previous year.
  • Once the portfolio is approved, you will receive your financial rebate and participation badge for your website and social media.
  • Estimated Rebate: $4000 -$6000 (a maximum of 200% of WSIB premiums) and a $1000 registration incentive.

Part 3: Strengthening Safety Practices

  • This part will cover communication, injury reporting and first aid. With 1:1 help from your safety consultant, you’ll learn how to respond effectively when things go wrong and how health and safety information flows in the workplace. This part emphasizes understanding when and how to report injuries, illnesses, and incidents, building basic first aid preparedness, and ensuring clear communication so issues are addressed promptly and future incidents are prevented.
  • Once the portfolio is approved, you will receive your financial rebate and participation badge for your website and social media.
  • Estimated Rebate: $6000 -$9000 (a maximum of 200% of WSIB premiums) and a $1000 registration incentive.
